Social Networking – A Waste of Time? Tuesday, Mar 10 2009

Social Networking

Social Networking

There has been quite a buzz about social networking and whether it’s a waste of time for your business. Can you really market effectively on social networking sites? How is this possible? Most people believe that these sites have a lot of people that are attempting to sell their opportunity to each other.

However, statistics show that there are 75,000 people/day looking for home based businesses. I’m sure this number is growing daily especially with 70,000 layoffs on Bloody Monday. What a better place to find these people than on social networking sites! The key is to find your target market and focus your efforts in those areas. Here are some of the sites that I visit and have had many people join my business opportunity.

Myspace – This is my #1 lead source for my business in the social networking arena although many people continuously bash Myspace.  That’s ok because I’ll just take that business, thank you very much!

Facebook – is quickly taking over the #2 spot and could be my #1 source very soon. There are some great features such as Facebook Pages for your business.

Twitter – is the newest buzz word in the neighborhood and I’ve actually had a few sales from this source already! Make sure to check out my Twitter tips to grow your business. I also highly recommend following Mari Smith on Twitter and Facebook.  She gave me all the tips for my Facebook business page.

Sta.rtup.biz – is a great place to meet like-minded individuals and those looking to start a new business. I’ve received my largest amount of traffic from posting this article to this site. I also gained 700 new Twitter followers from one twitter blog post on this site!

Youtubevideos are the wave of the future. Many people love watching videos more than reading content so this is a great avenue to promote your business.

Here are some professional networking sites that you can align yourself with potential business partners.

One of the main keys to success is to plan. Many people spend too much time on the social networking sites and do not get much done with their actual business. I’m not advocating joining every single site but choose a select few and focus on them.

Be sure to allot a certain amount of time for each site so you don’t run into the problem of spending all day on certain sites. For example, I try my best to get on Twitter in the morning, afternoon and evening for 10 – 20 minutes each time. This allows me to interact with different people as there are different high traffic times for Twitter.

My top places to visit on a daily basis are Twitter, Facebook and Star.tup.biz. Go make some friends as people are more inclined to buy from people they know. Which ones are your favorite social networking sites?

Facebook Page vs. Facebook Profile – What’s the Difference? Thursday, Feb 12 2009

Naomi Trower's Facebook profile

What is the difference between a Facebook Page and a Facebook Profile, you ask? The most common user account is a Facebook profile. It is personal in nature where you can add your business or personal websites. You can integrate business related imports such as your blog or feeds such as FriendFeed and Twitter.

A Facebook Page is actually a page that promotes a business, a music group, favorite TV show or politician. It is not as easily found on Facebook how to create these pages. These pages are free, however, you can pay to do some advertising campaigns. There are various applications that you can add to these pages as well but they aren’t as interactive as your main profile page.

Your main profile page allows you to have up to 5,000 friends. I know most of you are thinking why would I want more than that? Well it all depends on what your focus is on Facebook. The Facebook page, however, is unlimited to the number of fans that join your group. This is a great way to capture more customers, fans or friends when you reach your personal profile limit.

Comment below if you would like to create your own Facebook page. Here are my Facebook pages My Health & Fitness Page and My Internet Marketing Store and my personal profile.  Feel free to become a fan of my pages and add me as a friend! The number of people flocking to Facebook is growing rapidly on a daily basis so get on over there and mingle!

What is Facebook All About? Monday, Dec 1 2008

We hear about people creating Facebook pages and that someone found someone else on Facebook. But what exactly is Facebook all about and does it have any benefits for us? Read on to find out about Facebook and if it indeed does something more than enhance your social life.

Facebook is one of the top ten Web 2.0 applications and social networking sites in the world. Started as a social experiment, Facebook was originally designed as a way for friends to keep in touch and create interesting profiles and pages for others to look at.

I have a friend, Mari Smith, who is known as the Pied Piper of Facebook. I’m constantly learning from her the most effective ways to be successful in my business using Facebook. The core is about relationship marketing because people are more inclined to buy from those they know. Check out her site for more specific direction.

Facebook is not just for young teenagers and college students however. It is also a networking tool for business owners. It’s a great way to connect with other business owners and target potential customers.

A plus for new businesses is that becoming a Facebook member is free. Every registered member gets a home page where they can then create a profile and add applications to their page for friends and other trusted users they designate to use.

Entrepreneurs can use their Facebook profile to tell others all about themselves. Many times, businesses never really have a chance for potential clients to learn more about the person or people who run the business.

More focus is put on advertising, growing the business and promoting its products or services. With a social networking page on social sites like Facebook, customers and other business associates get a chance to find out about the person behind the business.

Anyone can join or create a group on Facebook. These groups bring together like minded people according to business, personal, or other social factors. Groups talk to one another; share business tips and create a useful connection in many different ways.

Businesses use Facebook pages to showcase products or give customers a place to ask questions and record comments about the products they have used. They can talk to each other and compare notes. Big businesses with famous brand names use Facebook to gain insights into consumer trends.

Facebook can be useful for communities trying to create a closer knit group of families. Homeschooling parents can create a network of support for each other and their kids. Facebook has a variety of uses both for business and personal reasons.

So, now that you know more concerning Facebook, what will your page be about? I know that I have to work on constructing a few pages for my separate businesses. There is always something to continuously improve upon in our business. Feel free to add me as a friend on my Facebook profile.

My Internet Business Stuns Competition With Quick Video Marketing Joint Venture Thursday, Sep 18 2008

The My Internet Business massive product suite just got larger and even more valuable to its members across the board due to recent joint venture with QVM (Quick Video Marketing). The My Internet Business management team has been working diligently to expand its line of services and products and has inked an extremely profitable deal with Jeff Schwerdt, co-founder of Quick Video Marketing. To learn more about this joint venture, click here.

Jeff Schwerdt, an ex-fighter pilot for the U.S. Air Force turned internet marketer was forced to hang up his wings due to lower back problems caused by frequent F-16 flights. As an F-16 instructor, Jeff needed to find a profitable business he could run without the heavy stress on his lower back. After deciding to embark on internet marketing he became incredibly successful with the use of video marketing strategies. Many of his colleagues wanted to know more about his successful techniques which spawned the creation of the Quick Video Marketing Home Study Course – A Fighter Pilot’s Guide to Online Success.

My Internet Business founders Rob Hannley and Dave Garvin have recently negotiated and signed an affiliate deal with QVM which will provide an even greater level of extensive Web 2.0 training as well as an additional income source for My Internet Business members.

The top five traffic sites on the internet (Google, Yahoo, MySpace, YouTube and Facebook) all have a video component which makes this joint venture very powerful for My Internet Business members. The value of this alliance gives MIB members immediate access to the Platinum QVM Home Study Course along with unrestricted resell rights to the course as well.

“It is great to work with someone that is committed to integrity and excellence in the online world”, said My Internet Business co-founder Rob Hannley during an interview with Jeff Schwerdt prior to the new product roll-out. Take your business to the next level with the best of both of worlds: internet and video marketing.
